Are you thinking about signing up, but you’re unsure? Here’s some words from one of our clients, Holly, telling you all about her journey with one of our coaches.

WHY DID YOU SIGN UP TO ONE COACHING?

I signed up to One Coaching in February 2023 because I was lacking direction and accountability. I’ve always loved the gym, but never really had any specific goals. One of my major struggles was a consistent and healthy diet. When I tell you I never ate vegetables, I’m not exaggerating. I didn’t know how much protein I needed or what foods to source it from – I was just having protein shakes for the sake of it because that’s what everyone else was doing. Overall, I just had an awful diet and eating routine (I’m talking eating a packet of oreos for tea – it was bad). After feeling sluggish and sorry for myself for a while, I decided I needed a lot of education and accountability. That’s when I started coaching with Harry.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO GET OUT OF WORKING WITH A COACH?

One of the biggest things for me was accountability. I needed someone to hold me accountable, especially when it came to eating healthy. Another big thing for me was education too. I never really had a problem with being consistent in the gym or struggling with motivation, but I needed guidance in terms of exercises, form and just education when it comes to the gym. Having Harry guide me has been such an educational process and that’s one of the biggest things I applaud the One Coaching team for. They are big on education and I can confidently say that I have learnt so much about fitness and nutrition since being part of the team.

WHAT IS YOUR OVERARCHING FITNESS GOAL?

I’m a girl, so it’s probably no surprise that, when I first started coaching, I wanted to lose weight. I felt sloppy and just was not very confident in my appearance. I never really thought it was possible for me to lose weight. But, on the run up to summer, I shedded a stone and never felt better. One thing about the process was that it was done sustainably and in the healthiest way possible. I wasn’t limiting myself like I thought I’d have to – I was still eating five meals a day, and I didn’t lose any strength.

Since then, my goal has been to maintain a healthy relationship with food, as that’s something I’ve always struggled with. It’s safe to say that I am on the right track. I also just want to be a bit of a beast. I want to be strong. For me now, my goals are way less appearance-based, and more health-based and strength-based.

A year difference! (hello lats & shoulders)

HOW HAS HAVING A COACH HELPED YOU WORK TOWARDS YOUR GOALS?

Like I said before, having a coach has helped educate me and has provided me with all the foundations I need to build a healthy, sustainable, and strong lifestyle. Harry has gone above and beyond to help me reach my goals. He truly puts the clients first.

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT FROM WORKING WITH A COACH?

I’ve learned that anything is possible, as cringey as it sounds. It’s taught me that I can do anything, with the right help, if I put my mind to it. I’ve also learnt that food is fuel, scale weight means nothing – it’s just numerical data – and it’s all about how you feel.

HOW HAS EMBARKING ON THIS PART OF YOUR FITNESS JOURNEY AFFECTED YOUR LIFESTYLE?

I’m so much healthier. I actually eat vegetables. I know what foods sit well with me now. I know what foods make me feel good. Also, while I’ve pushed myself hard, I cut myself slack a lot more now. I know if I miss a session, I won’t lose muscle, or if I go out for a meal, I won’t put on stacks of weight. Coaching has helped me live a more guilt-free lifestyle. I enjoy the process a lot more and I enjoy life a lot more. It has honestly made me so much happier and I think a lot of the people around me have noticed.

CAN YOU GIVE US ANY INSIGHT INTO HOW YOUR LIFE IS BALANCED IN TERMS OF FITNESS, SOCIALISING AND WORK? HAS HAVING A COACH HELPED WITH THIS?

While accountability is important to me and I have enjoyed pushing myself in new ways (like shedding a stone), I still do what I want. Nandos? Yes please. For me, when I was cutting, it worked best for my lifestyle that I had weekends off. I’d hit my non-negotiables in the week – I’d hit my steps, do my cardio, eat my meals, not go off track, and smash the gym. But, on weekends, I’d not gym, I’d worry less about my steps, and I’d go out for meals. I would never say no to social plans because I was on a cut. Sometimes I might make different choices, but I’d never sacrifice time with friends or family. Balance and sustainability has always been important to me. It’s more of a specific lifestyle that I’m trying to achieve instead of a short-term goal.

Having a coach has for sure helped with this. I thought that I’d have to sacrifice a lot to reach short-term goals, but I didn’t really have to sacrifice anything. When I was unsure about anything, Harry was always there to help and guide me in the right direction.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO PEOPLE WHO ARE THINKING ABOUT GETTING A COACH, BUT AREN’T SURE?

Again, it sounds dramatic, but I wouldn’t be where I am physically or mentally without having a coach. Not only has it helped me reach certain goals, but it’s completely changed my mentality towards training and life in general. It’s provided me the opportunity to build great everyday foundations – like work ethic, determination, and accountability. So, if you aren’t sure, just take the leap, you won’t regret it. It’s 100% worth it and it will help you in so many ways. Just do it.
